Middle Beach Lodge offers a gorgeous setting to get away from it all. Set in 40 secluded oceanfront acres and with a mile of private beach, the lodge is also well positioned for explorations of the surrounding Pacific Rim National Park Reserve and Clayoquot Sound. The lodges were built in the classic tradition of West Coast architecture, and the cabins follow a similar design with a nod towards rustic simplicity. Activities on offer include whale watching, kayaking and surfing - although the tranquility may encourage you to just sit back and take in the spectacular ocean views whilst sipping hot chocolate on your deck.
There are two areas to the property. The Beach Lodge offers adult only accommodation in cosy rooms, some with ocean-facing balconies. The Headlands Lodge offers oceanfront cabins, rooms and suites. There are options with balconies, lofts and kitchenettes, and most overlook the Pacific. Although the lodge rooms can be small (they don't have TV's, telephones or a wardrobe), they are very well presented. The rustic cabins come with wood-burning fireplace, indoor soaker bath, outdoor hot-tub, decks and wrap-around ocean views (you can even listen to the waves at night whilst in bed).
Why we like it
A wonderful west coast atmosphere.
