New Canada Line on Vancouver (added 14th Aug 2009)
The new Canada Line, which is the newest service in our existing light rail transit system (SkyTrain), will be opening on August 17, 2009! Vancouver is the only Canadian city with a rapid transit link to the airport. The Canada Line is ahead of schedule, originally set to open in November, then pushed earlier to September and now August. It will take approximately 26 minutes for visitors to travel between the Vancouver International Airport and downtown, with three stops in downtown - refer to http://www.translink.ca/en/Rider-Info/Canada-Line/Map-and-Travel-Times.aspx and more information is at http://www.canadaline.ca/.
And, as of September 30, the Vancouver Airporter bus will stop operations.
When the Canada Line opens the fare will cost C$3.75 per person one-way, which is a regular 2-Zone ticket. Note that concession fares (discounted to $2.50 for 2-zones) are available for children 5-13 years old and seinors 65+ with proof of age. Starting January 1st 2010, our transit authority will begin charging a premium fare for Canada Line passengers going to and from the airport. The premium will be $2.50 over and above the regular transit fare and a premium ticket will be valid for 90 minutes; therefore, the total cost will be $6.25.
