7 nights

Cruise through the largest national forest in the United States - home to grizzly bears, black bears, mountain goats, bald eagles and wolves. On your way to view Alaska's massive glaciers, you enter some of the world's deepest fjords. In the still of the evening, you will watch bears ambling along wild shorelines. And everywhere in the swirling currents below, the world's largest mammals and the great whales forage in bountiful waters along the sheltered coastline. Spend three exclusive days in Glacier Bay - jewel of the US National Park system, UNESCO World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve, view stunning glaciers throughout Glacier Bay National Park, enjoy Park Ranger interpretation and discover the Bartlett Cove Visitor Center, see South Marble Island sea lion haulout and spectacular birding and enjoy treks ashore in Glacier Bay National Park and along Chichagof Island’s waterfall coast.

Day 2-4

Glacier Bay

Over the next three days you will explore the park. A National Park Ranger joins you to explore coves and corners of the bay that most visitors miss. Tidewater glaciers sweep like rivers of ice down massive mountain valleys, terminating before you in the waters of Glacier Bay.

Paddle a kayak and be awed at the face of a massive glacier. Go on a boot-sucking trek through sandbars and rainforest. And ride a skiff along shore for an up-close exploration of Glacier Bay. You'll find sea lions, mountain goats, sea otters, bears, moose, eagles, and spectacular scenic backdrops. Linger near South Marble Island to spot the many species of rare sea birds that call this area home. Keep your eyes on the water and the island for brightly-colored puffins and Black Oystercatchers. Stop in Bartlett Cove for a visit to the Park Service's Headquarters.

Day 5

Icy Strait

Set your course for arguably the richest whale waters in Southeast Alaska. Join the Captain on the bridge or the Expedition Leader out on deck in search of marine mammals. Camera in hand, begin your land and sea exploration of these remote reaches. Ride the skiffs for a closer inspection of the rugged and wild coastline with eyes set on the shore for possible bear sightings.

Day 6

Chichagof Island / Baranof Island

Meander along the spectacular waterfall coast of Chichagof Island. In the Un-Cruise expedition spirit, marvel at the grand scenery as our crew expertly guides you through unsung, glacier-carved fjords. Anchor in remote waters for an opportunity to lower the kayaks and skiffs. Explore the shoreline on an intertidal walk or forest exploration with your guides.

Day 7

Peril Strait / Sergius Narrows

Peril Strait runs 50 miles from Chatham Strait to Salisbury Sound. This haven for small boats is scenically highlighted by a very narrow connecting passageway called Sergius Narrows and an opening at Hoonah Sound. This historic and wildlife-rich waterway is a great place to watch the shoreline for bears, the waters for otters and whales, and to look skyward for eagles. The passage narrows to only 300 feet in one spot (24 feet deep). After an adventurous, but “un-perilous” day, toast your voyage with a festive Farewell Dinner and a “photo journal” of your trip presented by your Expedition Leaders.

Day 8

Sitka

Gather for breakfast this morning as you cruise into Russian-influenced Sitka for disembarkation.

About Un-Cruise Adventures

In 1997, American Safari Cruises pioneered yacht cruising in Alaska. InnerSea Discoveries enjoyed its inaugural season of expedition-style active exploration of Southeast Alaska’s Inside Passage in summer 2011.  In January 2013, the company changed its name to Un-Cruise Adventures.

Far from Ordinary. This isn’t small ship cruising or big ship cruising. These are Un–Cruise Adventures. Uncommon casual adventures fully-focused on delivering unexpected experiences - quality over quantity, wildlife over nightlife, life changing encounters over momentary entertainment. These one-of-a-kind, memory-making voyages are designed to be far from ordinary, and carry you outside of ho-hum tourist ports.

Each style of Un-Cruise Adventures features flexible voyages intended to inspire and satisfy your curious nature. Wildlife in its natural environment; personal exchanges behind the scenes with locals; unmatched moments melding with nature; and engagement in active adventure or living history presentations innovatively highlight your days. Whether you’re in the wilds of Alaska, sunning in the Hawaiian Islands or Sea of Cortés, or honing your inner explorer in the Pacific Northwest - you'll have a great time.

There is one Ship offering this Cruise -

Wilderness Explorer

The newly renovated 76-guest Wilderness Explorer is equipped for action, adventure, and exploration. As with our other “Wilderness” ships, its interior complements the outside and public and private spaces are loaded with amenities. The ship offers a main lounge featuring a Douglas fir bar top, dining room, and ample space on deck for taking in the great outdoors.

Three accessible decks are fully equipped for comfort and action. Guests enjoy over-the-top views from the bow or from under-the-stars in the hot tub (Alaska); on-deck sauna and fitness equipment; and the EZ Dock launch platform makes getting in the water a cinch, even for a novice. Onboard are kayaks; stand-up paddle boards; inflatable skiffs; hiking poles; yoga mats; and a hydrophone for listening below-surface.

The three cabin categories aboard the Wilderness Explorer:  Trailblazer; Pathfinder; and Explorer provide single and double accommodation.

The featured itinerary is called Northern Passages & Glacier Bay, but there are many more that Un-Cruise Adventure Cruises offer.  Please speak to the office for details.
