Day1-2

Halifax

Arrive into Halifax, transfer to your hotel and start exploring this vibrant, coastal city.  Highlights include the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, with its Titanic links and artefacts, as well as taking a tall ships cruise around the harbour.

Day3

Halifax to Lunenburg

Drive along the Lighthouse Route to Lunenburg stopping at Peggys Cove, a picturesque fishing village surrounded by bare granite and home to Nova Scotia's most visited lighthouse.  Continue on to Mahone Bay, a relaxing seaside town renown for its quiet beauty and attractive churches. Lunenburg is a UNESCO heritage site known for its Fisheries Museum and Marine Park.

Day4

Lunenburg to Digby

Leave the coast and drive through the specacular Kejimjujik National Park to Digby. Allow time to stop to see the Visitor Centre and a stroll along the lakeside.

Day5

Digby to Saint John

Take the 3-hour ferry to Saint John, (reservations required).  Saint John is New Brunswick's largest city and steeped in history with lots to see and do.  Places to visit include Carleton Martello Tower, the old city market, Loyalist House and the Reversing Falls.

1 night in Saint John.

Day6

Saint John to St Andrews

Depart Saint John and take a leisurely drive along the Fundy Coastal Drive.  This dramatically scenic drive introduces you to the Bay of Fundy, one of the Marine Wonders of the World.

Day7

St Andrews to Fundy National Park

This morning, enjoy a nature cruise departing from St. Andrews cruising through the narrow island passages of the Deer Island archipelago en route to the open Bay of Fundy.  Expect in season, to see whales, porpoises, seals, seabirds and bald eagles. Depart St. Andrews via St. Martins, a scenic fishing village with a famous shipbuilding heritage and spectacular red cliffs and caves.  The route then takes you via Sussex and on to the Fundy National Park which has 206 sq kms of steep coastal cliffs, forest clad hills and deep rich valleys.  The park is a haven for hikers, bird watchers, golfers and canoeists.

Day8

Fundy National Park to Moncton

Depart the park driving via the Hopewell Rocks where you can walk on the ocean floor and witness the highest tides in the world before continuing on to Moncton.  It is home to two unusual natural phenomena - the Tidal Bore on the Petitcoadiac River and the Magnetic Hill.

Day9

Moncton to Summerside

Cross the 8 mile long Confederation Bridge to Prince Edward Island.   Take the Blue Heron scenic drive to Summerside.  The stately homes that grace the downtown residential core were once home to many a wealthy shipbuilder.

Day10

Summerside to Charlottetown

Continue along the Blue Heron into the Anne'e Land Region.  Take time to visit Kensington and on to Indian River to view the dramatic churches of St. Mary. You will be able to explore Cavendish, home of Anne of Green Gables before driving to Charlottetown, the capital city of Prince Edward Island.

Day11

Charlottetown to Pictou

Having explored Charlottetown retracing the steps of the Fathers of Confederation, you will take the 75 minute ferry from Wood Island to Caribou NS from where it is a short drive to Pictou. Please note, we cannot book this ferry for you.  You can either telephone NFL ferries yourself or pay at the port.
1 night in Pictou.

Day12

Pictou to Baddeck

Depart Pictou and drive via the Canso Causeway to Baddeck on Cape Breton.  This pretty village overlooks the beautiful Bras d'Or Lakes and the most notable resident historically was Alexander Graham Bell.

Day13

Baddeck to Louisbourg

You will need a full day to explore the famous Cabot Trail - one of the most spectacular drives in all of Canada.  The trail winds around the rocky splendour of Cape Breton's northern shore, ascending to the incredible plateaux of Cape Breton Highlands National Park.  The Park has 26 hiking trails ranging from 20 minute walks to challenging hikes. Glace Bay is the beginninng of the Marconi Trail, named after the Italian inventor who sent the first transatlantic wireless message from here.  Follow the trail to Louisbourg, home to the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site, where you can view historical reconstructions.

Day14

Louisbourg to Liscomb Mills

From Louisbourg, follow the coastal rooute to St. Peters, back across the Causeway, through Guysborough and other picturesque villages and fishing communities.  Be sure to visit the Sherbrooke Living History Museum.

1 night in Liscomb Mills.

Day15

Liscomb Mills to Halifax

A leisurely 3 hour drive to Halifax for the overnight flight home.
