Weddings
If you would like to get married anywhere in Canada, it could not be easier.
Rules vary slightly from province to province but the basics are the same.
- You usually need to be in Canada 3 days before the ceremony except in Québec Province in which case it is 21 days.
- You need full birth certificates showing both parents' names
- Passports
- If divorced, show your original final divorce papers
- If widowed, show the death certificate of your former spouse
- If you have changed your name then show legal proof of the change
- Bride and groom must not be related by blood, marriage or adoption
- Canada also welcomes same sex marriages.
If you would like a civil ceremony, you can chose any location, it could be on the shores of Lake Louise or on the beach in Tofino, in a balloon over Niagara Falls or in a vineyard in Nova Scotia; you will need a marriage commissioner and two witnesses which we can provide for you. The ceremony can be as simple or extravagant as you like.
